‘Not so good weather’ suggestions
Here at Fields Lodge we have a never ending supply of suggestions to while away your days! Of course, if it’s nice weather, then the beach and walking has to be the first point of call, but what if the weather isn’t so good?
Never fear! We have a multitude of suggestions for ‘not so good’ weather days too! Read on to enjoy a few suggestions, and this is nowhere near the total of suggestions, we have loads more up our sleeves, if you’d like more!

A Coastal Tour
Take a drive along the coast and enjoy all the bays in the wild weather-Little Haven, Broad Haven, Druidstone(keep an eye out for the Telletubbie house), Nolton, Newgale, Solva, ending up at St Davids-the smallest city in the UK.
At Solva, enjoy the unique shops, indulge in a freshly made Welsh Cake at Mamgu and head over to Solva Woollen Mill and if Welsh Wool throws and cushions are your thing then head towards Mathry and visit Tregwynt Woollen Mill-the oldest running water mill in Wales. Beautiful throws and blankets, gifts and a great café
As you’re around Mathry way now, travel to Porthgain and enjoy a tipple at The Sloop, the oldest pub in Wales and explore this quaint village, the backdrop to a few Hollywood films
Then take a drive (or a walk across the fields) to Abereiddi and the Blue Lagoon-the original home of where the Queen’s coal used to come from (now dis-used)
Coasteering is an activity that was created in Wales, and this is the site where it first started-Abereiddi
Just outside Haverfordwest
Picton Castle-fabulous Stately home, gardens, gallery and superb Tapas café to be found just outside Haverfordwest
Then visit Narberth and scratch that shopping itch with all these lovely shops…visit PlumVanilla Café around the corner at the bottom of the high street for really great food
Further North
Take a drive through the Gwaun Valley…it’s like stepping back in time.
Visit the Dyffryn Arms, a one of a kind pub in Wales (post code SA65 9SE)
To make sure you don’t miss anything you can drive to Fishguard and start the tour from there or you can take the A40 to Fishguard and keep an eye outjust before Treffgarne for a right hand turn signposted with a little brown sign ‘Taith/Tour with a little church symbol’ and this will get you onto that road to the Gwaun Valley.
St Davids- the City & Cathedral-ideal rainy day dodging here, start with Oriel Y Parc and then head down to the village, lots of one of a kind shops, and then of course the Cathedral, which even if you’re not religious is well worth a visit for all the tales and stories that you will discover.
Newport & Castell Henllys
Take yourself back to the Iron Age at Castell Henllys-dodge the rain by running in and out of the roundhouses
Visit Newport and enjoy this quirky village, visit Pentre Ifan and ancient burial ground and take a cross land road over to the Preseli mountains, keeping an eye out for Red Kites
Pembroke Side (across the River Cleddau)
Pembroke Castle and the founding Tudor Dynasty follow up with a visit to the Heritage Museum in The Royal Dockyard at Pembroke Dock and try out a Sunderland Flying Boat simulator and fly over the Cleddau Waterways.
Drive to Freshwater West and enjoy watching the surf whip up whilst enjoying some food from the fabulous Pembrokeshire Beachfood Company
Dodge the rain in Tenby & Saundersfoot where there are many shops to visit including the RNLI station and the Tudor Merchants House Museum in Tenby
