    Real Milk

    We use Real Milk

Ever wondered why you don’t get the cream at the top of the milk these days?

There’s a LOT that ‘we’ still don’t know about what ‘messed about’ food does to our bodies. And so, I prefer to cook as much as I can from scratch for our lovely guests. So, I’ve been investigating a bit more about this subject.

Food for Body, Mind & Soul

I aim to give people great food that’s good for their body, mind and soul. Know what you’re eating and make appropriate choices.

Choose a Big Mac if you want, but make that choice consciously and minimise the ‘damage’ by making great choices for all the other times.

And so we come to milk…..

Up until now, we haven’t had a lot of choice but now, we have a lovely Farm shop, just minutes form us with their own herd of grass fed cows, producing their own milk (which they have been doing for many years) and even better now, they are now pasteurising their own milk production and selling it at their farm-direct to consumers.

    Direct to You

They have a vending machine, you buy a glass bottle and then you pay a £1 and you get your bottle filled with milk that has only just been pasteurised on site. The milk goes through the process of pasteurisation to basically make it safe to drink and pass the food hygiene regulations.

But what happens to supermarket milk compared to what happens to the farm milk is where the big difference lies.

Milk in a  supermarket is Homogenised, which our Farm Milk is not, plus Supermarket milk can often have things added to it to enhance the taste(!!) and make it last longer. Do you ever wonder why milk doesn’t go ‘off’ like it used to? Now you know!

So, what is this I hear you say?

    Homogenisation

This is the process of blasting the fat particles in the milk to make them very small- Jo, our friendly Farmer’s Wife fro the shop explained this to me.

And this is where the danger occurs…

By blasting the fat particles so small, the body cannot break them down into the various component parts it needs to to claim the nutrients for use. As such, these minute fat particles stay lodged in the body-in the intestines and also, it is thought, are small enough to make it through into the blood stream. You’re hanging onto fat you don’t want or need!

This then causes bloating and swelling, and ultimately creates lactose intolerance and this all leads to a nasty path of auto-immune conditions. And at the same time, the nutrients of the milk have been depleted, so it’s of no real use to your body.

With the Farm shop Real Milk, the fat is as it came out of the cow, which is the right fat for your body to use for having great hair and skin and with this, your body can take from the fat particles what it needs and then disposes of the rest through natural elimination.

    Guests Love IT!

All I know is that my guests love it. Some even ask for the cream at the top of the bottle!

So, it’s a double win….win for our health and a win for supporting another small local business
