It’s National B&B Week
March 18th – 24th 2019 marks National B&B Week.
Launched by the B&B Association and booking expert eviivo, National B&B Week is a celebration of the Uk’s brilliant Bed & Breakfast Industry
Bed and Breakfasts all over the UK are joining in and offering special deals for guests staying during B&B Week and beyond.
The week also highlights the valuable work of The Family Holiday Association, a charity who provide short breaks to struggling families across the UK.
National B&B Week at Fields Lodge
Here at Fields Lodge we have our own celebrations going on!
We are having a Breakfast Celebration Event on the morning of March 18th -the first day of National B&B Week.
I decided that I would like to highlight the impact a small B&B has on the local community, economy, businesses, producers and suppliers and celebrate the ripple effect through the community and beyond.
Our celebration and why
I spend the greatest part of my time highlighting how wonderful it is in Pembrokeshire and sharing the delights with people all over the globe, in an attempt to draw them to experience the fabulousness of Pembrokeshire for them selves. Whether they stay with us here at Fields Lodge, or another property, is not my concern, what I want is for them to have a great time. If I can help in that, then that is my job done! to do this I market via email, blog posts, free guides, social media, online review sites and keep my website live and kicking on google, you tube and other search engines.
So, by doing that, all these lovely people come to Pembrokeshire, they stay, eat, visit attractions, pay for experiences, buy gifts for themselves and as holiday momentos. They eat in restaurants, pubs and that I recommend and enjoy the fabulous scenery we have on offer. Whilst they’re here they are adding into the local economy.
Whilst they stay with me, they meet my fabulous team of angels, which in some part is made up of school attendees on a Saturday or holiday job
Help for young people
Here, I help ‘grow’ these young people into beautiful adults, able to converse on any level, proficient in their knowledge of our fabulous Pembrokeshire and able to enhance a guest’s stay. Some of team started when they were 16, apprehensive to look someone in the eye and yet leave being able to talk to a room full of people and bring joy into peoples’ lives.
I am very proud of how I see these young people growing and then going out into the world to further their careers. To that end, I ensure my team are fully trained and achieve World Host standard and also become Milford Waterfront Ambassadors. It’s a great achievement for self esteem, as well as for our guests’ experience.
Then, the guests pay their bill with me and then I utilise this payment; staff wages(which then go back into the local economy), cleaning companies, laundry businesses, butchers, fruiterers, florists, chocolatiers, egg producers, craftspersons and any number of other businesses and artisan producers to maintain my offering to the next sets of guests.
And then the cycle is off again…..
The largest industry and employer in the county
Keep in mind that in Pembrokeshire there is over 1000 B&Bs, this is no small effort going back into the local community and the Tourism Industry. Individually we may be small, but together, we are the largest industry in the county.
So, to celebrate this, our Breakfast Celebration is bringing together our local Assembly Member, Cabinet Minister for Lifelong Learning and other local dignitaries, together with schools representatives, local producers, suppliers and craftspeople so that we can all celebrate how brilliant a small B&B is, and the ripple effect it has on the community.
What have we got on offer for guests?
And, of course for our fabulous guests, we have a great offer. If you are staying on the 17th March, then you will be invited to our celebration and for those of you that can’t make that, we will still be happy to celebrate with you with this great offer:

Yes, that’s right, book a 2 night stay and have the third night free. Available for any stays booked March & April.
Just pop B&B Week in the comment box on the booking form and choose your 3 night stay, and I will amend the price to 2 nights at this end, giving you your third night free!
