Christmas Shopping-don’t you just love it??? I know many people like to go to the big cities and then just as many like to shop online, but I really do love visiting the more unusual, boutique type shops that you can find aplenty in Pembrokeshire. My favourite go-to towns and villages are, Milford Haven, Narberth, Solva and St Davids. And that’s not to say you won’t find great shops in other towns, these are my first calls! Read on to discover what you can find in Pembrokeshire.
Christmas Shopping Towns in Pembrokeshire
If you follow me at all, you will know that I love Milford Haven, there are great shops on Milford Marina and in Charles Street there are definitely some shops worth a visit.
At the Marina, for shopping, you can choose from Image by Vanessa, a great shop for lovely clothes and an ideal place to get Occasion Wear. There is also a new boutique called Boobaloo Boutique that offers up to date styles at a good price, then there are some gift shops and craft shops and the famous Trwffls can be found here-Welsh, handmade, artisan truffles and chocolates-all made with min 70% dark chocolate and no sugar, so a treat that’s good for you!
Then there is Silverfish jewellery, scarves and toiletries-a lovely selection of jewellery here, many by Welsh artists. Talking of artists, the first shop you would come to is an art gallery where you can commission your own painting, and a piece of original artwork needn’t be expensive, as you can pay monthly for it!
You can visit Latitude, which is one of my favourite shops and get pretty much any type of Welsh food here, why not create a Welsh Hamper to give a loved one. In my humble opinion, you must buy Black Bomber Cheese, it’s the most DIVINE Cheddar and is definitely on my cheese board at Christmas time.
You can also find great unique pieces and gifts at Past to Present, guaranteed there’s nothing here that you can buy elsewhere. If you fancy getting something personalised, then St Brides Bay will provide you with pretty much anything that you can name or logo-that’s where our Fields Lodge T-shirts and aprons come from. Little treasures is a great shop for handmade sewn work that will inspire anyone, there’s great book worm cushions for the little ones, with a space to hold their current book and more adult cushions for the grown ups, not to mention dresses, bunting and all manner of gifts-fabulous fabric and all unique.
To help you enjoy shopping, you can stop and have a coffee at a selection of cafes that you will find as you wander around the Marina. And of course, you can buy a gift voucher in any shop or any restaurant, what better gift to give than a memory-that’s what I believe these days. Since I downsized, into the stables, I really haven’t got any room for any more ‘stuff’ and so, as gifts, I would much rather have an experience that leaves me with a lasting memory. To be honest, I couldn’t tell you what some people have bought me for Christmas, but I always remember the Spa day I was given, or the afternoon tea!
And then, once you’ve had your fill of the Marina, you can head on up to Charles Street and catch some fab shops there too! Charles Street is doing it’s best to improve it’s offering but that said there are some great shops to be found here. My regular haunts are, the Haven Emporio, lovely gifts here and an Annie Sloan Paint stockist-they do workshops too, so there’s another gift experience! Next door is Snapdragon-this is a wonderland of gifts and surprises and you’re guaranteed to find something here. Across the road is Occasions Cards, guaranteed to have the best prices for cards, gift wrap and many other small gifts, a little way down is the fantastic Cherubs shop, this is THE shop to go to for anything child related, a great selection of good quality wares here.
Then pop over the road to Flowers and Favours where you can get some fabulous flower arrangements or order some to be sent to loved ones, you can see some of their work if you look through our photos on Facebook and I know you’ll be impressed!
Just a little way down, if you have a pet or anyone pet crazy, there is a very large pet shop for all your pet’s pressies!
And then you’ll find a few more shops that offer all manner of gifts and unusual items, as you continue down.
And, not a ‘Store’ in sight, no next, no Debenhams, no M&S and that, I think is what makes shopping in Milford brilliant!
Watch this blog for further run downs on what’s on offer in the other villages and towns, as I think you’ve probably read enough today!
To book your stay and do your Christmas Shopping here, then book your room here. you could buy all your pressies on one day and then sit in our lounge with a glass of wine and wrap them all-pop the in your boot the next day and then drive home! And, if you time it right, you could join the Carollers around the village tree for a bit of a sing-song!
