Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company
The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company is one of our local producers, producing superb ‘sea’ fayre. We LOVE using local produce and producers here at Fields Lodge. We pride ourselves on providing the best experience we can of the lovely food available here in Pembrokeshire.
Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company History
The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company started off by Jonathon, as a little shack on Freshwater West-Café Mor, serving great food, foraged from the shores just opposite to the shack. He was often, and still is, found foraging on the shores for the seaweed that goes into his dishes.
The business grew and over time Jonathon has started creating and producing sea ‘herbs & spices’, one of his first-‘Welshman’s Caviar’ is used extensively here. It is dried laverbread (seaweed), named ‘Welshman’s Caviar’ as that is what Richard Burton, a very famous Welsh Actor (married to Elizabeth Burton a few times), called Laverbread (a welsh delicacy). It goes so well with our Smoked Salmon (from Milford Docks) and

scrambled eggs on hot buttered muffin, as it enhances the flavour of the seafood. It also works well in a myriad of dishes-quiche being one of my favourite!
The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company has grown from strength to strength, staying local(which is brilliant) and now offer a great range of products- I love the ‘Ships Biscuits’ – do try them if you get a chance,

and their latest offering is a range of the various types of seaweeds you can find on the shore from low tide to high tide-all in order in a lovely packaging, arranged in the way you would find the seaweed at the shoreline. Infact, they have recently been foraging at Marloes Beach, just 15 minutes from us, so it truly is local and a great ‘taste’ of Pembrokeshire.
Café Mor
You can still try their ‘street food’ at Café Mor at Freshwater West, and you may well find them at many festivals, as that is what they do well also! They have won numerous awards for the quality and innovation of their food, and well deserved it is too!
