Freedom Day??
What are we doing for Freedom Day?
England had its’ Freedom Day, as it was called just over 10 days ago. Here in Wales, we are still under previous restrictions until August 7th, it is anticipated.
What are we going to be doing at Fields Lodge?
7th August
On the 5th August Welsh Government will make the decision as to whether it will lift restrictions on the 7th August, they are not calling it ‘Freedom Day’ however.
The sentiment from WG is that the virus is still here and can still cause chaos and so they are taking a cautious approach to lifting restrictions.
What we will do
I fully expect that we here at Fields Lodge will continue in our small way to help limit the spread by continuing with our social distancing and mask wearing in public places.
We will continue, for the moment, to have a maximum of 2 tables in the dining room at any one time, and these will be time allocated tables.
Out of the hundreds of guests we have served this year, pretty much everyone was accepting of this arrangement and I am grateful to all our guests that are helping us keep each other safe.
We will continue with serving breakfast from the kitchen, rather than having our wonderful buffet out for you to help yourself, and to be honest, I can’t imagine I will ever bring that back-the thought of people coughing & sneezing over the fresh fruit really does turn my stomach!
We will also continue with:
Online breakfast ordering system and we will continue with our e-guest book, rather than the physical books that used to be in the rooms
Room amenities request protocols and the housekeepers will not be undertaking any mid stay servicing of rooms.
Removing the cushions & throws out of the room, to reduce the amount of cleaning chemicals that have to be used to sanitise the room and ensure it is a safe place
Sanitising of the room and providing goody bags to ensure you are kept safe.
The infection is still here
The infection rate in our little are of Wales is higher than it was at many times during lockdown. Thankfully, many people are double jabbed, and so the risk is less, but the risk is still there, especially if you have a vulnerable person within your circle.
And so, we are happy to continue to keep people safe in our own little way for the time being, and, like WG, we will review this regularly and amend as required.
I felt so safe here, thank you, I’ve been nervous of coming away from home……Wendy, Bristol
